Foxhounds prayer
The Percy hounds showed at Blaston Show in Leicestershire on Sunday 29 June 2014. The judges for The Old English Classes were Mr G Adams, the Fitzwilliam huntsman and Mr W Deakin, the recently retired Warwickshire huntsman. The classes were very kindly sponsored by Baily’s Hunting Directory.

In total we took two couple of dog hounds and three couple of bitches to the show.

In the first class, Unentered Dog, we showed Porter walked by Miss Emily Bennet and Porrick walked by Mrs Lynne Walker. We were pleased with the way they both showed with Porrick going on to win the class. This was very pleasing as he is by one of our own dogs, Spitfire.

The next class was the Entered Couple of Dogs in which we showed Clinker walked by Mrs Emma Howie and Alnwick walked by Mrs Betty Robson. These also showed well and went on to win the class. This was the first time we have showed these two dogs as a couple.

The next class was the Stallion Hound class in which we showed Clinker and Alnwick again but this time as singles. Once again the judges liked them with Alnwick going on to win and Clinker coming second.

We then went into the Dog Hound Championship with our three winners, our Stallion Hound Alnwick went on to win it with our Unentered Dog Porrick getting the Reserve Champion.

We then moved on to the Bitch Classes, the first class was the Unentered Bitch in which we took Possible walked by Mrs Lynne Walker and Pocket walked by Miss Emily Bennett. They both showed quite well but are still a bit puppyish and didn't take the judges eye.

The next class was the Entered Couple of Bitches in which we took two of our kennel favourites Claret walked by Mr Billy Crole and Lilac walked by Mrs Lynne Walker. They went on to win a good class.

The last class of the day was the Brood Bitch in which we showed Poet walked by Mrs Annette Grey and Alaska walked by Miss Eleanor Morris . The judges liked Poet a lot and she won the class with Alaska coming third. We were very pleased with this as Poet is the best bitch in our kennel and has eight pups out to walk at the moment.

We could not take Poet, Lilac or Alaska into the Bitch Championship as they have all won it before at Blaston so we ended the day winning five of the six classes with a second, a third, a reserve championship  and a championship so it made the long journey to Leicestershire very worthwhile.

Our next show will be the Pre Puppy Show at the kennels on Thursday 03 July at 6pm, all welcome.
